Upper elementary education includes the fourth through sixth grades. Each grade has its own subjects. For example: 4th grade has Florida History, 5th has Civics, and 6th grade has Ancient History. Students in 4th grade begin in the Saxon Math program and continue through the grades progressing individually as they master the material.
The focus in these grades continues to be math, language arts: reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and spelling. Science, geography and history become more intensive as well. They learn it is necessary to study for tests and complete their homework on time with quality.
As they move up in the upper elementary grades the transition to college preparatory becomes more evident. Students are expected to write original stories on the computer and continue with keyboarding until they are proficient.
Outdoor physical education class is daily. Spanish language instruction continues. Art and music classes are weekly.
